This 2021, Hublot released an eye-catching surprise. The brand may not be a stranger to colors, and one can say the Hublot has mastered the art of creating watchcases in special hues. But, this year, the watch giant achieved another first by giving the Big Bang Tourbillon a color-popping update to its tinted sapphires.

The Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Orange Sapphire does not only compete with its aesthetics, but it also boasts an amazing technical feat. It sports a new tourbillon movement with a self-winding capability and a visible micro-rotor on the dial. This innovative and daring timepiece is only available in a limited edition of 50 pieces. Today, we’ll see just how impressive this new Hublot release is!

The World’s First Orange Sapphire

Hublot has always had a vision and it was to produce through the “Art of Fusion”. This is always embodied in exquisite materials, most commonly sapphire, and its daring want to create something bold and innovative. Throughout the decades, the brand has already showcased timepieces sporting cases and dials made of colorful sapphire. These cases are usually transparent to boast their meticulous mechanics.

Hublot has played around with colors like black, red, blue, and yellow. Today, it continues to discover ways to reinvent the Big Bang Sapphire Tourbillon. Through state-of-the-art manufacturing, the mixture of chromium and titanium has brought a brilliant orange shade—the first for a through-tinted sapphire. This dynamic and eye-popping color is truly an exquisite innovation in the world of wristwatches.

The Big Bang Gets a New Caliber

Hublot has been developing the tourbillon since 2007. However, the Orange Sapphire received a fascinating movement update. Instead of the traditional tourbillon movement with a manual winding system, the newly released caliber boasts a self-winding system with a power reserve of 72 hours. It has the latest Hublot features and is equipped with ceramic ball bearings. The brand has also proven its innovativeness by changing the movement’s architecture making its micro-rotor visible. This technical advancement showcases the level of professional craftsmanship that the company offers. This design also pushes the envelope for aesthetics for watch brands worldwide.

The caliber on the Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Orange Sapphire is equipped with a barrel bridge, an automatic bridge, and a tourbillon barrette—the first time it boasts three sapphire bridges. All of the artistry on the movement is showcased using an open-worked sandblasted platinum. The open dial is detailed using luminescent hands and indices. The rubber strap is also equipped with a patented one-click system and a titanium buckle.

Watch fans are kept on their toes especially since this astonishing model only has a limited edition release of 50 pieces. This amazing piece of artful innovation can only be enjoyed by a fortunate few.

Other Hublot Watches To Check Out

Hublot’s Art of Fusion has brought forth contemporary designs and interesting innovation to the watch world. If you are part of the uninitiated, the brand actually mixed gold and rubber in one model. It is a shocking move but the risk certainly enamored many enthusiasts. This odd combination became an instant success.

In 2005, Hublot launched its Big Bang chronograph, and ever since then, four more collections have been released under this series. Sometime later, the brand also created scratch-resistant 18-carat gold. In 2013, it also released the world’s first red ceramic watch. Right now, we are in awe of the luxurious sapphire crystal.

If you are looking for other Hublot masterpieces to add to your collection, here are some watches you should consider.

• Hublot Big Bang Unico Sang Bleu II Titanium

Three years after its initial release, Hublot has decided to release an update with the Sang Bleu II. This was created in collaboration with Maxime Plescia-Büchi - a London-based tattoo artist.

Looking more like a 3D sculpture, the Sang Bleu II is made out of titanium and glass with edges that emphasize the case and bezel. It also boasts the UNICO movement, a transparent dial, and a classic black rubber strap. This titanium watch boasts an incredibly futuristic design.

• Hublot Big Bang MP-11 Power Reserve 14 Days King Gold Jewellery

If you are into flashy timepieces, this one's for you. The Big Bang MP-11 features 222 diamonds - its case encrusted with 172 of them. The other 50 are baguette-shaped adorning the bezels. Even though it is as flashy and dazzling as a piece of jewelry, this piece still retains one of Hublot’s signature details - the H-shaped titanium screws.

• Hublot Classic Fusion Ferrari GT King Gold

In 2011, Hublot started a partnership with Ferrari and became Formula 1’s Official Timekeeper. Ever since then, the two powerhouses have worked on multiple watch designs together. Their most recent release is the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT - inspired by Gran Turismo.

This is the first time that Hublot housed its 354-component UNICO movement in a 45-mm diameter case. This timepiece also features a transparent sapphire crystal dial with Ferrari’s Prancing Horse enclosed in scratch-resistant 18-karat King Gold.

Keeping in line with the racing theme, the rubber strap of Classic Fusion Ferrari GT is made out of exquisite Schedoni leather - which is an allusion to Ferrari’s Maranello race cars.
